What we do

For the past 27 years Heart-to-Heart Care Centre aimed to bring life, hope and opportunity to vulnerable children. Heart-to-Heart believes that together WE CAN change the destiny of children one child at a time.

What are we about? I’m so glad you asked! We run 3 growing projects at the moment and we’re super excited to share them with you.

English Literacy Centre

81% of children between the ages of 8 – 10 years old are unable to read with comprehension. Many will not be able to speak, write of read by the age of 13 years old.

By supporting English literacy from an early age, families, schools, and communities help children build the skills they need for lifelong success. Investing in English literacy is ultimately an investment in children’s future and setting them up for success.

The English literacy centre situated at a local primary school in the heart of Mossel Bay aims to unlock doors and transform lives through English literacy, whilst breaking the destructive cycle of poor literacy, low educational attainment, wasted potential and poverty amongst our vulnerable children.

To get involved and volunteer in the programme all you need:

• Is a love for children
• Speak, read and write English
• Free time in the morning

Change Won

The Change WON programme uplifts learners and where we aim to irradicate barriers, which plays a significant role in shaping a learner’s academic experiences and changing their overall well-being.

While material support may seem basic to many, it can have a powerful influence on a child’s confidence, participation, and success in school—especially for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Giving to many learners who does not have the means to attain these resources, gives them hope changes their trajectory in life.

Community Outreach

To build a self-sustaining community, it is essential to assist those in need by providing support and resources, this is done through community outreach programs. These outreach programs address the various social issues individuals are facing, such as poverty and homelessness.

Annually Heart-to-Heart, have outreach programs and drives to provide much needed warmth and necessities to our most vulnerable individuals during the cold winter months and the joyous time of the year. These drives have a positive impact and improve the overall well-being of individuals and families.
